Podcast Reflection
For the podcast assignment, the first person who came to mind was 2024 ONU alumna Rosie Schroeder. Rosie was one of the first people I met on campus. When I made my overnight track recruiting visit back in October 2024, I had the privilege of spending some time with her. Her hospitality and warmhearted nature certainly made my decision to come to ONU easier.
Rosie works as Purdue University’s athletics associate director of marketing, digital content and advertising. I have been able to keep up with some of the content she has produced through being connected with Rosie on LinkedIn and Instagram, which made me intrigued to learn more.

To prepare for my podcast, I developed a set of questions to ask Rosie. I looked through her LinkedIn profile and at a former podcast assignment I completed from Principles of Public Relations to assist me in developing questions. I then divided the questions into two sections: college and professional experiences. Being a collegiate athlete, I wanted to ask Rosie questions pertaining not only to social media but also to how it connects to her own experiences as a former collegiate athlete. I was also interested to learn how her background in athletics influences her work with other athletes. I felt I learned a lot about working in athletics and presenting a positive image in the face of trial (or losses in sports).
After the podcast concluded, Rosie and I chatted for around half an hour to catch up. We talked about school, work, track and many things in between. This podcast allowed me to learn what Rosie’s day-to-day looks like, which is something I had not talked about with her prior. As a sophomore who doesn’t fully know what career path to pursue following graduation, I am grateful for the opportunity to explore the many possibilities that are out there, and I cannot wait to learn more.
Although Rosie and my academic studies never overlapped at ONU, it is evident to me that she made a lasting impact on the Tundra. I hope one day I can follow in her footsteps.

Connecting her athletic background to her current role in marketing made the podcast feel meaningful and relevant. It’s great that the experience helped you explore career possibilities while strengthening a professional relationship.
