My Easter Weekend

My Easter weekend kicked off with spending the day on campus. While many of my peers went home for Good Friday, I stayed because I had a track meet the following day. At first, I was not thrilled about staying, but the day turned out to be full of friendship and free time. Usually, my non-class time is spent doing homework or studying for upcoming exams, but Good Friday was an exception. I slept in before practice and watched Love on the Spectrum. After practice, I joined some of my teammates at Starbucks. Later, I ran a few errands, treating myself to flowers and new press-on nails from Kiss Impress. After finishing errands, I had dinner with friends.

On Saturday, I had a track meet in Manchester, Indiana, where I ran the 400-meter hurdles. The weather was not ideal, with showers throughout the day, but thankfully, the rain stopped before my event began. I ran better than the previous week and am looking forward to competing again this weekend. Since I had no plans to go home on Sunday, my mom surprised my friend Alex and me with Easter baskets at the meet. After the meet I spent some time doing homework before heading to bed.

Sunday began with church, which I attended with some of my teammates at New Hope Church in Kenton, which I had never been to before. After service, we headed to one of my teammates’ houses for Easter lunch. While there, we also played the game Imposter, sat around the piano while musically inclined teammates played, competed in a few games of foosball and enjoyed catching up with one another. Returning to campus, I caught up on schoolwork, FaceTimed my family back home, made dinner, did laundry and took a much-needed nap.

I am immensely grateful for the community of people Ohio Northern has introduced me to. Many of my teammates have become some of my closest friends, and I appreciate the balance of support, friendship, and experiences the campus provides.

  1. I love Love on the Spectrum! My roommates have started watching Down for Love. Not sure how I feel about the ethical side of the shows, but they seem to like it!
