The Completion of a Busy Week

Weeks in which every line of my planner is filled can feel overwhelming, particularly when my schedule deviates from my usual structure of classes, work, track practice and meetings. However, this past week, although busy and non-linear, proved to be both productive and rewarding.

The week began in a typical manner, with Monday consisting of my regular classes and track practice. Anticipating a more demanding schedule later in the week, I used my free time to work ahead on assignments and prep meals, which helped reduce stress later in the week.

On Tuesday, regular classes were cancelled due to Honors Day, which consisted of various induction and awards ceremonies. I was fortunate to attend a couple of induction ceremonies and observe a few upperclassmen honors student that were presenting on their capstone projects. A particularly meaningful aspect of the day was that my parents were able to visit campus and attend my ceremonies. They also had the opportunity to meet several of my professors, many of whom remarked on how similar my mom and I look. After the events concluded, we got lunch together before I went to track practice, where the sprints squad played sand volleyball.

The week’s demanding pace continued on Wednesday with Polar Pitch. My group members and I pitched a fashionable, yet discreet, safety charm bracelet. The bracelet connects instantly to Life360 with a three-second hold of a charm. Additional features included charms such as a medical ID, a compass and pepper spray. In preparation for the competition, I spent time after classes rehearsing my part of the pitch, printing materials for the judges and getting ready. My team also coordinated transportation to ensure we had time to practice as a group once we arrived.
On Thursday evening, I helped proctor the Ethical Leadership Case Competition. I remained in a conference room throughout the event to ensure the scores populated correctly. I am super proud of all the students who participated!

My week concluded with a track meet at Hillsdale College in Michigan, followed by a trip home. Despite the initial sense of overwhelm, the week ultimately proved to be highly beneficial. I gained valuable experience and developed a greater sense of confidence in my organizational and leadership abilities.
